Authentic Tzatziki (Greek Cucumber Yogurt Sauce) from Key to my Lime!

Updated: Mar 12

We followed this recipe to the T and it is freakin delish! ๐Ÿ˜‹ 10 out of 10, we recommend!
Okay, how in the hell did I not take a picture of the finished product? ๐Ÿคฆ๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ Y'all, I can't! ๐Ÿคฃ Well, here is a picture of all the ingredients, prior to being mixed! ๐Ÿ™„ Rookie mistakes. However, you can see the final product in my Greek Pita Bowl post.๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿผhttps://www.thehealthyishbish.com/post/template-how-to-write-a-recipe-post-2-8

We LOVED this in the bowl above and as a dip for carrots and cucumber for snacks. It really is not difficult to make, it takes 10 minutes, and like I said in my above blog post, when you taste it you get the feeling of satisfaction.

If you don't want to go that crazy with your clean + healthy eating, you can always buy healthier versions of Tzatziki Sauce. Remember to read the label and only buy ones that have the healthy ingredients in there. If the front says "healthy", "keto friendly", etc. READ THE LABEL!! In my experience those typically have more things listed in the ingredients list than it needs! Have you seen Country Crock's plant-based butter ingredients? If not, go check them out. Regular butter is healthier for you that that stuff! Moral of the story? Just because something is stated on the front label, doesn't mean it's true. You have to do your research. This should not be allowed as it feels like false advertising, but maybe it ticks enough of the boxes to just pass under the radar...? Who knows? ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ Unfortunately, I do not have any recommendations on this. We really wanted to do this all from scratch this week.

Also, greek yogurt is so easily changed with a few things, sour cream being one that really threw me off. An old roommate told me about it once and tried it out, my mind was blown. It adds more protein to your meal, too! Tastes good and better for you... win, win!

Prep Time: 10 mins Total Time: 10 mins

Serving size 1/8 tablespoon Calories: 78

Shopping list:

You might already have some of these at home, but if you don't then make a list and check it twice!
  • Full-fat Greek Yogurt

  • Garlic cloves (I used already minced)

  • Olive oil

  • Sea salt

  • Lemon

  • English cucumber

  • Fresh dill

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 cups of full-fat Greek Yogurt

  • 2 large garlic cloves (I used already minced - 2 tablespoons)

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

  • 1/2 teaspoon sea salt

  • 1 - 2 tablespoons of lemon juice (depending on taste preference)

  • 1/2 English cucumber, grated with excess water squeezed out, about 1 cup)

  • 2 tablespoons fresh dill

Directions:

  1. In a medium bowl, the Greek yogurt, garlic, olive oil, sea salt, and lemon juice. Stir to combine. Cover and refrigerator for at least one hour, but 6-8 hours or overnight is best! (We ate it like 5 minutes after I made it ๐Ÿคฆ๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ It was still good!)

  2. Just before serving, stir in the dill and cucumber.
